TODAY
TODAY()
Today's date, for questions about the real calendar such as how many days until a task starts. It is the start of today in the project's time zone, so the column moves on by itself each day, and it is not the data date the schedule is statused to.
Examples
Formula=CALDAYS(TODAY(), [Start date])
How many calendar days from today until the task starts: negative once the start is behind you.
Formula=[Start date] <= TODAY() AND [Status] = "Not started"
As a guardrail: tasks the schedule says should have started by today but haven't.
Formula=WORKDAYS(DATADATE(), TODAY()) > 10d
TRUE when the data date is more than ten working days behind today, a sign the schedule needs a status update.
Measure (on the project)=CALDAYS(TODAY(), [Finish date])
As a measure: calendar days from today to the end of the project.

Common questions
Is there a NOW?
No. TODAY gives the start of the day, the same day on the server and in your browser, and there's no function for the current time.
Should I use TODAY or DATADATE?
For anything about the schedule's progress, DATADATE: the dates CPM worked out are as of the data date, which may be days behind today. Use TODAY for questions about the real calendar, such as how stale the data date is.
