Export your work
When you need your schedule outside Owl PM — to hand to a client, submit to an owner who runs Primavera P6, or drop into a report — export it. Owl writes standard schedule files that other tools open, so you can round-trip a plan back into P6, share it as a spreadsheet, or print the Gantt.
Export the schedule
In the top bar, click Transfer, then pick a format under Export as.

| P6 XER | You're handing the schedule to someone who runs Primavera P6. XER is P6's standard exchange format. |
| P6 XML | A tool or workflow expects P6's XML format instead of XER. |
| MS Project (XML) | The recipient uses Microsoft Project. |
| Excel | You want the schedule as a spreadsheet, for a report, a review, or someone who doesn't run scheduling software. |
| Gantt PDF | You want a printable Gantt: every activity with its start and finish, the bars on a timeline, landscape pages ready to attach or print. |
The file downloads to your computer, named after the project.
Tip: Exporting as P6 XER and importing it into Primavera is how you take a schedule Owl built or revised back to a P6 shop. If the recipient has trouble importing it, try P6 XML; some P6 setups prefer one over the other.
Heads up: An export is a copy of the schedule at that moment. It doesn't stay linked to Owl, so if you keep editing, export again to share the current plan.
What to do next
- Share part of the plan instead of all of it — ask Owl to export just the activities a scenario, a comparison, or a filtered view shows: "Export the activities in the Permitting Phase as Excel."
- Send the numbers, not the file — for a client update, a custom dashboard often says more than a raw schedule file.
- Record what you sent — name the version you exported in Schedule history, so you can compare later updates against it.
