LOWER

LOWER(text)

Gives the text in small letters, for building labels or keys that look the same on every row. You don't need it to compare text: = and CONTAINS already ignore case.

Arguments

ArgumentWhat to give it
textText, like [Phase] or [Name]. A choice field such as [Status] works too. Blank gives blank.

Examples

Formula
=LOWER([Phase])

The task's phase in small letters.

Formula
=LOWER([Discipline]) & "/" & LOWER([Phase])

A key such as discipline and phase together, written the same way whatever capitals each row was typed with.

To check whether text has a word, whatever its caseCONTAINS

Common questions

Do I need LOWER to compare two pieces of text?

No. Text equality ignores case: [Phase] = "CIVIL" matches Civil. See text.
