UPPER

UPPER(text)

Gives the text in capitals, for showing codes or labels the same way on every row. You don't need it to compare text: = and CONTAINS already ignore case.

Arguments

ArgumentWhat to give it
textText, like [Phase] or [Name]. A choice field such as [Status] works too. Blank gives blank.

Examples

Formula
=UPPER(LEFT([Discipline], 3)) & "-" & [Task code]

Common questions

Do I need UPPER to compare two pieces of text?

No. Text equality ignores case, as in Excel: [Phase] = "civil" matches Civil. See text.
